The video and pictures below are from my most recent "Day in the Life" session with a beautiful mom and daughter. Christi is the wife to an amazing Chef in San Diego, mother to 2 gorgeous daughters and one of the most sought after full-time restaurant manager in San Diego. This beautiful lady works around the clock and because of her industry doesn't get much time with her little girl Alana. Alana is one of the smartest little kindergartners I know! She is by far also one of the most energetic and loving little girls too. Christi like most working moms and dads struggles with the fact that she isn't able to be with her family as much as she would like.
When Christi isn't putting out flames at work, running an entire restaurant and carpooling daily she is able to finally have a day off ... when she isn't doing regular mom and wife chores, she goes all out for her beautiful little girl. From breakfast together at Cafe Topez in Carlsbad to seeing the box office smash "Cinderella" at the Regal Cinemas Carlsbad 12 theater. She tops of the morning with a little trip to the Disney Store at the Carlsbad mall where her beautiful little girl falls head over heels for a Cinderella dress that was made just for her!
Have you ever thought to yourself "now these are the moments I want captured", but you've been the one stuck behind the camera or worse the iPhone camera! If you've got kids or loved ones that you enjoy interacting with, playing with or sharing stories with then I'm sure you are shaking your head in agreeance.
I find myself going through old pictures of my daughters younger years and realizing I'm not in many of them. Why, well clearly I'm the photographer in the family! But like most moms and dads we tend to be the one taking the photos so we aren't in any of the photos with our kids and other loved ones.
This is why I have fallen in love with Modern Storytelling through photography. I take a journalistic approach while capturing true raw moments that happen in your day to day life.

Being able to hang out with my beautiful family on Thanksgiving was such a true blessing. Even though not all of our family was with us, the ones that were there made it memorable for sure.
I was able to share my kitchen with my brother who's an amazing chef, it was simply priceless. He not only helped me get everything put together wonderfully, he also helped teach my girls some of his kitchen secrets. Then there was my amazing husband who did a remarkable job at seasoning our 2 turkeys, yes 2! He got them deep fried to perfection! I couldn't believe how amazing they tasted! The perfect blend of spices and a hint of craft beer, nothing better than that!
I was in heaven being able to take a moment to watch my daughter Madison jump on the trampoline, chat with my daughter Lexie about her choir concert coming up and hang out with my brothers. There's nothing better than watching my family smile and laugh out loud.
There is so much that goes into Thanksgiving dinner. It's not just about eating a turkey, it's about coming together as a family. Having fun together, sharing cooking tips, sitting around chatting and creating moments that turn into precious memories. Capturing those moments during a Day in the Life Photography Session is key to making sure those memories last a life time for us!

Over the past year I've had the pleasure of meeting an incredible family. The Dempsey family took couple and family portraits before Kris deployed with me at Leo Carrillo Park in Carlsbad. Then I had the pleasure of photographing the Dempsey family as they welcomed home Kris from his overseas deployment. At the time of the homecoming you may recall, that beautiful Courtney was pregnant with baby Kaleb.
I am delighted to share in the great news, guess who made his grand entrance into this world just a few weeks after his daddy got home ... that's right ... November 12, 2014 Courtney and Kris welcomed their son Kaleb Archer into this world. He was born at 11:56am weighing 9lbs 3oz and was 20.5 inches long.
I was privileged to be told that Courtney was in labor and felt honored to be upon the few hospital visitors that Kaleb had. I was able to capture a few portraits of him in between him learning how to latch on, get his blood work done and being looked over by the doctors.

Modern Storytelling through photography has become by far my favorite type of session, besides newborns and birth sessions.
I love being able to photograph families in the comfort of their home, doing something they love doing. Interacting with each other and not worrying about me being in the room with a camera.
The video below is during a baby bump painting session. With every hand print made, I knew this family was bonding and creating memories that will for ever be remembered. It was a true blessing to be able to capture each moment as it passed by.
Special thanks to The Painted Oven for creating such a beautiful masterpiece.
